March's Featured Artist!
Welcome to March’s Featured Artist! This is Katherine Crinklaw – a lover of the classics such as Michelangelo and a veteran artist, she has been a professional for 43 years, and recently opened Crinklaw Fine Art/Gallery in her home town of Gustine, CA. Her artistic style ranges from contemporary representational to abstract, to realism; these variations are dependent on the client, or how she would like to portray the subject. Katherine’s paintings are on a commission basis, however she does also have a line of textiles based on her original paintings. In addition to textiles she also has a line of stationery and new line of hand-painted ceramics and serving platters. All products are available in her Gallery as well as on her website (link below).
Katherine loves to use Windsor & Newton acrylics because of their quick-drying, bold colors, which allows her to paint easily in sheer layers. When she paints a commission, she is inspired by her client’s vision, and draws inspiration from nature. She doesn’t add anything extra to her paintings, she simply uses paint, water (if necessary), free-hands any sketches as needed, and uses custom-made canvases. When she isn’t using acrylic, watercolor is her second choice. On her free time, she loves to play guitar, write and garden.
Katherine has participated in shows at The Haggin Museum, The Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock, Central California Art Association, and more recently, her own gallery in Gustine, CA.
Her advice for emerging artists: "Every artist has unique talent and vision. They should follow their hearts, work incredibly hard, and know that the gift they have is one to be grateful for."
